The Community Development Engagement Initiative (CDEI) targets 17 Local Government Areas across Queensland which were hardest hit by the flood and cyclone disasters which occurred during the last summer season. The initiative aims to support the recovery and well-being of community members through a community development approach which empowers them to manage their own recovery and plan for the future.
23 new Community Development Officers will be employed in the 17 local councils for a 2 year period to work with their local communties in identifying their own recovery needs, determining local issues, and implementing strategies or projects they believe will make a positive difference to their community.
