Art Partners is a mentorship program that matches people with disability with mentors, and together they participate in mainstream art classes and activities in Bunbury, WA.
The Art Partners pilot project was launched in 2011. Following a successful pilot, Art Partners is continuing with support from the Disability Services Commission, the Department of Culture and the Arts, and a Community Living and Participation Grant (managed by National Disability Services WA and supported by Lotterywest). Additional support is provided by Enable Southwest. A host of other donors contribute to the Paint & Canvas Campaign for artists' expenses.
Art Partners is currently supporting partnerships working out of the Bunbury Regional Art Galleries, The Red Mill Store Studio Gallery and the Stirling Street Arts Centre. Participants have been involved in a range of activities including painting, pottery, lead lighting and collage. Goals for 2013 include expanding the number of partnerships and the range of artistic disciplines.
