I have been a farmer all my life and my wife and I own a 3000 tree commercial citrus orchard in the Chittering Valley and run sheep for prime lambs. After graduating from Muresk Agricultural College I spent many years in the northern wheat belt near Geraldton involved with grains, merino sheep and cattle on large properties.
Later came a career change to forestry and horticulture namely Pinus radiata, West Australian wildflowers and orcharding.
The Regional Landcare Facilitator position uses experience and skills from these previous occupations. Industry best practice is a great starting point to tackle the increasing range of ongoing problems that face growers.
