Our Kokoda trekkers are caught up in the history, camaraderie and challenge of it all. In 2012 a team of Westpac Institutional Bank staff and customers from across Australia and the Pacific Islands, will undertake a trek along the Kokoda track to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Isurava. Kokoda is one of the world’s toughest treks and upon completion the group will have climbed nearly 5,500 metres and descended almost the same figure; through mud, jungle and humid conditions. Moneys raised support homeless and children. The group has an ambitious fundraising target, with each walker standing for either Mission Australia or Save the Children Fund in Papua New Guinea. Westpac has committed to matching gifts of employees. All donations and encouragement gratefully appreciated as we embark on this challenge of a life time.
