Hi! My name is Ashley Rogers, the Regional Landcare Facilitator for the Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority (CMA).
The Goulburn Broken Catchment covers 2.4 million hectares, extending north from near the outskirts of Melbourne to the River Murray on the border with New South Wales. The Catchment boasts a diversity of landscapes, including seasonally snow-covered alps, forests, granitic outcrops, gentle sloping plains, box woodlands and red gum floodplains.
There are over 90 Landcare and community based natural resource management groups in the Goulburn Broken Catchment, involving more than 5,000 volunteers. Groups include Landcare, Friends of, Sustainable Farming and Environment Groups. Some of these local groups have formed alliances and networks. There are currently six Landcare Networks and five Conservation Management Networks operating in the catchment.
The Regional Landcare Facilitator position is funded by the Australian Government’s National Landcare Programme and works to support farmers and land managers in the Goulburn Broken Catchment to adopt sustainable farm and land management practices.
The Regional Landcare Facilitator also supports regional communities to manage natural resources and protect Australia’s landscape.
