This collection of stories is the result of a multinational research project with 48 human rights activists and advocates in four different countries. From these 48 interviews, 30 stories are included online, with permission. In these stories, these activists speak about what motivates and inspires them. Out of their stories, it becomes clear: Everywhere around the world, people are fighting gender discrimination, the gender wage gap, human trafficking, sexual assault, rape, interpersonal violence, racism, homophobia, and striving for the upward mobility and empowerment of women and individuals worldwide. The project celebrates their experiences, how they evaluate their country’s progress toward equality, how they feel empowered, and what drew them into the work they do. It is a platform for building a more comprehensive understanding of how human rights are approached on a world scale. This project gathers the voices of a group of people who’ve made rights work their life passion in order to see their accomplishments and struggles and their vision for the future.
