David Doyle is the Executive Director of DADAA.
DADAA facilitates the social inclusion of people living with a disability or a mental illness, or who experience other forms of social, political or economic disadvantage, through community arts and cultural development. Our practice stimulates artistic innovation and vibrancy, and enhances community wellbeing. We follow a social model of disability, which views disability as a problem of exclusion from ordinary life, and not a medical condition. Our model works to change societal values and practices, to remove barriers for participation and inclusion. We do this through cross-sector partnerships that bring arts, health and business together in a way that effectively responds to the needs of artists and communities. To provide the evidence in order to influence we actively work in research and evaluation.
Through our distinctive artistic engagement strategies disability disappears and artistic innovation happens, every day. We innovate, collaborate, and produce artistic work of high calibre. We contribute to the CACD sector, being the largest employer of professional and emerging CACD practitioners’ in Australia.
