I am a researcher and retired academic, with interests in the cultural impact and social effects of media representations of mortality issues, on social as well as self identity. My work has included contributions to community awareness of the issues of dying, identity, death, grief and loss, through for example: 'Seven Dying Australians' (with Alan Kellehear); interactives in the 'Death, Burial and Beyond' exhibition at the Jewish Museum of Australia; the 'Death: Mortality and Religious Diversity' exhibition at the Immigration Museum, Melbourne; and numerous conference papers and publications dealing with the uses of social participation and artmaking in making sense of grief and loss in individuals and communities. I am a former board member of the Australian Centre for Grief and Bereavement, and welcome invitations to collaborate in art-health, community arts, and related education and research projects.
