I am the Director of the Creative Ageing Centre.
Since 1989, I have been working in the Community Cultural Development sector in a range of areas such as healthcare, disability and aged-care. With a background in Mental Health Nursing and disciplines of teaching Art, Drama, Ceramics and Arts Management, I initially established the first Queensland non-arts funded Artist in Residency position at The Prince Charles Hospital and since championed the use of the Arts as they intersect with Hospitals and Community Health Centres, Agedcare and Disability agencies.
In 2003 I was a recipient of the Ros Bower Award for services to the Disability and Health Communities and in 2005 was awarded an Australia Council fellowship to research the Narratives of Mental Healh Consumers and Care Organisations. In 2006, l studied Reminiscence and Memory at Aged Exchange in Blackheath UK.
I am currently a member of the Queensland Arts and Health Consortium and working in the Aged Care sector creating digital stories and oral histories.
