I am a Professor of Drama at the University of North Carolina at Asheville and also the Director of the Center for Rural Arts Development and Leadership Education (CRADLE). I have a doctorate in theatre history from City University of New York Graduate Center, and MA in Theatre from Illinois State University, and a BA from the University of Minnesota -- Twin Cities. I am a contributor to the Culture page for The Huffington Post, and have also written the Theatre Ideas blog (http://theatreideas.blogspot.com) for six years. I am the co-author of the textbook Introduction to Play Analysis. I recently moved to Bakervsille, NC (pop 457) with my wife, four dogs, three cats, three rabbits, and two sheep (soon to be joined by two alpaca).
