An Eye for An Eye 4 - 20 November 2009 (Opening: 4 Nov 5:30pm) City Library, 253 Flinders Lane Melbourne

An Eye for and Eye highlights the diversity of artistic insight that Indian communities bring to visual arts in Victoria.

The exhibition features the work of photographer Sudeep Lingamneni and painter/sculptor Maitreyi Ray, who each brings a deep sense of multicultural identity and experience to the City Library gallery space.

In response to continuing media exposure of issues facing the Indian community in Melbourne, Multicultural Arts Victoria (MAV) would like to confirm its support for the Indian community in Melbourne. Indian artists in Victoria contribute significantly to our diverse and dynamic artistic community and through their art promote a culture of respect and cross-cultural understanding.

In a reflection of this unity, the exhibition will be opened by Indian Consul General Anita Nayar.

The exhibition features the work of photographer Sudeep Lingamneni and painter/sculptor Maitreyi Ray, who each brings a deep sense of multicultural identity and experience to the City Library gallery space.
