NRM in Remote and Northern Australia

Managing the natural resources in Queensland’s northern and remote areas is both a challenge and a privilege.

Many of the areas have particularly high conservation, environmental and cultural values. Sharing traditional knowledge is particularly important for managing these areas over the coming generations.

Some of the big issues being addressed are weeds and feral animal control; and protection of threatened species, such as sawfish and turtles.

Regional NRM bodies are building partnerships across regional and state borders to manage the natural resources of this precious country.

These cases show a sample of the collaborative efforts Queensland’s regional bodies and partners are taking to manage the natural resources of northern and remote Australia.
