mission beach habitat network action plan
2 Aug 2008
Published To

Terrain NRM and CSIRO are working with the Mission Beach community to develop and implement the Mission Beach Habitat Network Action Plan with funding support from the Australian Government’s Marine and Tropical Science Research Facility.

The Plan will identify priority wildlife habitat and corridors at Mission Beach to focus our efforts on. Actions include assistance for land owners and the community to protect and restore priority areas, development of fauna-friendly road crossings, and management of pest species.

Although voluntary, the Plan’s strength is its community support. The Habitat Network Action Plan aims to ensure that the rainforest, cassowaries, village atmosphere, living Djiru culture and other values continue to be part of the unique Mission Beach way of life. By working together, we can ensure a healthy environment, community and economy. Ideas and practical actions are needed.
