Sleeping Beauty by Sam Everitt is a beautiful photograph that shows a love of colour and light. I particularly like the way Sam has shot the flowers close up, using depth of field to bring our eyes into close proximity with the subject matter, and allowing us to imagine the flowers extending beyond the frame. Sam has also managed to capture the movement of the blooms on their delicate stems in a way that celebrates a moment in time. The photograph is a kind of haiku, a poem that allows the viewer to recall moments of pleasure in gardens at times of new growth and change. (Pippa Tandy)
