The Baldwin Swamp By-Pass Fishway

Published To

The Baldwin Swamp By-pass Fishway is an initiative by the Bundaberg Regional Council, Ocean Watch and the Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation. It was developed after it was discovered that there was a barrage in Baldwin Swamp from Bundaberg Creek that has been recognised as a large barrier to the seasonal breeding of fish. The Fishway was established to resemble a natural stream environment, and is believed to be already increasing the population of sea mullet, mangrove jack and barramundi dramatically.
