The mighty Fitzroy River is the life blood of Central Queensland as it flows to the Great Barrier Reef. Community groups, working with lcoal governemnt agencies and industry are restoring and protecting the natural beauty and valuing the importance of this river system and its biodiversity.  Thier aims is to enhance and restore the health of the river's waterways, its variety of living microbes, plants and animals that interact with each other to from ecosystems such as their wetlands, grasslands and forests. To implement conservation management strategies and engage and educate the local community in the river's health issues and provide traineeship opportunities for local people.
