How Things Have Changed....

Change is apart of everyday life and this is no different for the Rockhampton Botanical Gardens and Zoo.  Just looking and walking through the Gardens and Zoo we can see many changes that have taken place over time.  These changes are seen when looking at a number of natural, managed and constructed features.  These changes may have been a result of erosion, weather patterns, Government funding,  re-vegetated areas, planted crops or new buildings.

In the beginning, the Botanical Gardens only functioned as an experimental plant facility.  One of the greatest achievements in the era of the garden development came in 1912, when it was possible to construct many new buildings including a new plant house, tool and machinery sheds, a nursery and bush house.

It was not until later that animals were introduced to the Zoo.
