Cycas ophiolitica (cycad) is a threatened plant. It is protected under the Nature Conservation Act 1994 (NCA) and the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC). Cycads are quite common in the local area largely due to a preference for serpentine (ultramafic rock) soils which occur in the Rockhampton region.
