As you have seen there are vast differences between the states of Australia.

From the North to the North East (QLD/NSW) Australia has a very tropical climate with lots of rainforest and bushland.

The South East to the South (VIC/SA) is much dryer than QLD and NSW and temperatures reach much lower averages.

The West coast line of Australia (WA) has a very dry climate but averages very high temperatures. This is similar for the Northern Territory; they average high temperatures all year round with high humidity along the coast line to very dry landscapes inland.
