The Byfield National Park and Byfield Conservation Park is situated approximately 70 km north-east of Rockhampton.  Both parks combined extend over 15,000 hectares. Highlights of the park include many rare and endangered plants and animals, outstanding coastal scenery with massive sand dunes and rocky highpoints, camping grounds throughout the park (some with facilities, some without), picnic areas, walking tracks, fishing, swimming and surfing spots and many diverse picturesque forest sceneries.  Much of the park is accessible by 4wd although there are many State forest beauty spots to explore with 2wd vehicles.
