Within the Byfield National Park is the small community settlement of Byfield, which sports a Primary School, General Store and Community Hall. 2wd recreational areas to visit in the area include, Ferns Hideaway, Nob Creek Pottery, Stony Creek and Waterpark Creek.

Ferns Hideaway is colonial style resort set amongst a eucalypt forest with many outdoor activities, bushwalking, tennis, swimming, and canoeing and beach volleyball.  Nob Creek Pottery produces fine pottery work in traditional style.  A visitor here can learn about the pottery process, browse the gallery, walk the grounds and orchard, swim in the rockpool and even bring a picnic to enjoy.  Stony Creek provides an open plan campground that is set among pine trees with swimming and bushwalking opportunities in around Stony Creek.  Waterpark Creek is surrounded by natural rainforest with access to walking tracks, swimming and canoeing along Waterpark Creek.
