Join us in Ajo, Arizona March 18 - 22, 2014!

Back by popular demand!  Participants in the March 2010 and 2012 tri-national symposia organized by representatives from the Tohono O'odham Nation, Mexico, and the United States recommended that this remarkable gathering should happen every two years.

The March 2014 tri-national symposium will address successes and continuing challenges of conserving the magnificent Sonoran Desert. The symposium will focus on cultural and natural resource issues, Native American tribal perspectives, environmental concerns, and border issues.

A variety of special field trips are being planned for Tuesday March 18th.  On Wednesday through Friday, we are scheudling plenary sessions, a rich choice of breakout sessions, and ample networking time.  Thursday afternoon will feature area field trips and a sunset dinner on Childs Mountain in the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge.  Friday evening will be an opportunity to sample regional cultural foods.  Saturday is the Sonoran Shindig festival in the historic Ajo Plaza.

This event is featured on the Year of the Rural Arts Calendar of Events. For more information on the Year of the Rural Arts, visit www.artoftherural.org
