Festival of American Indian Arts
31 Dec 2013
Published To

The Festival of American Indian Arts is designed to encourage a greater understanding of our land’s indigenous peoples.

Our mission is to foster the following objectives:

  • To foster interest and research in the archaeology of Arizona.
  • To encourage public understanding and concern for archaeological and cultural resources.
  • To protect antiquities by discouraging exploitation of archaeological resources.
  • To aid in the conservation and preservation of archaeological data and associated sites.
The Festival is organized by the Verde Valley Archaeology Center, Inc. (VVAC). The VVAC was founded in 2010 as an independent, Sec. 501(c)(3) non-profit to serve as a bond between professional archaeologists and avocational nonprofessional volunteers. The Festival was held 2009 and 2010 by the Verde Valley Chapter of the Arizona Archaeological Society. The 2011 and future festivals will be hosted by the Verde Valley Archaeology Center.

This event is featured on the Year of the Rural Arts Calendar of Events. For more information on the Year of the Rural Arts, visit www.artoftherural.org
