Conservationist John Ewing talks about Delta Park at the mouth of the river.  He describes it as a special ecological place, rich in wildlife and unique plants.  The image is from Charlie Eiseman's 2005 natural resource inventory and assessment for the Winooski Valley Park District properties, and shows the current vegetation at Delta Park.  Natural communities present include a buttonbush swamp, cattail marsh, and floodplain forest.
