Historical significance & context:  The Strange Creek Singers included National Heritage Award Winning musicians Hazel Dickens and Mike Seeger, as well as Alice Gerrard, Tracy Schwarz and Lamar Grier.   They were one of the nations’ premiere folk acts in the 1970’s. 
Brief statement on relation to AfterCoal: In an interview for the After Coal project, Helen Lewis says that she talked the group into stopping in Wales on their way to a tour of Europe. They sang in the Onllwyn Miners’ Welfare Hall along with members of Cor Meibion Onllwyn.
