FCAC uses the arts as a powerful platform for celebrating diversity and strengthening cultural understanding. Creating a place for the voice of all people. As part of their three year residency at Footscray Community Arts Centre, Comedy Festival stars Aamer Rahman and Nazeem Hussain (aka Fear of a Brown Planet) curated Hip Hop Academy – a program offering young people from Melbourne’s West an opportunity to work with some of Australia’s most dynamic hip hop artists. Through a series of weekend workshops, Hip Hop Academy participants explore all aspects of hip hop culture while investigating issues of social discrimination and race relations. Participants expressed their own identities through the creation of new words, beats, fashion and moves. An amazing project.
