Collinsville's Saddest Day
22 Oct 2010
Published To

The 13th October 1954 was the blackest day in Collinsville's Mining history. Seven miners died in a (Co2) Carbon Dioxide outburst at the State Mine No 1 tunnel. Each year on or about the 13th October a Memorial Day is held to remember the Miners who have lost their lives winning coal on this field.
