IDJA Dance Theatre, Victoria’s first Indigenous contemporary dance and visual theatre company, partnered with Footscray Community Arts Centre to co-produce and present the world premiere of a dance theatre work called Lu’arn.

Inspired by a traditional Boon Wurrung story, as told by Aunty Carolyn Briggs (Senior Boon Wurrung Elder), Lu’arn used contemporary dance, puppetry, live and recorded music to tell an ancient story of the journey from boy to manhood. With excerpts previewed as part of Wominjeka, the full performance of Lu’arn premiered at Birrarung Marr as part of the inaugural Melbourne Indigenous Arts Festival, hosted by the City of Melbourne
