'Co-creative Communities: Storytelling Futures for Community Arts and Media' took place at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image in Federation Square, Melbourne, on 8 November 2012. The forum was part of a national investigation of the role of community arts and media in propagating population-wide capacity for creative expression and communication. It was supported by the Australian Research Council's Linkage with Industry program, as well as the Australia Council for the Arts, the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, Goollari Media Enterprises, Queensland Community Television (31 Digital), and the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia. The research team was led by Dr Christing Spurgeon, Creative Industries, Queensland University of Technology, and included researchers from QUT, Swinburne University of Technology and Curtin University.
