The Lost Generation Project
24 Nov 2014
Published To

DADAA's Lost Generation Project was an arts and cultural project that engaged older people with intellectual disability living in supported accommodation (Disability Services Commission) in connecting with their communities between 2007 and 2013.

Artwork and films have been, and continue to be, used as tools of self-advocacy, empowerment, identity and social visibility.

The film making process involved significant consultation with storytellers, families and DSC staff.

Community screenings of 197 Storytellers' films at commercial cinemas provided a way to bring the stories to a broad public audience.

Films continue to be shared through Local Government community programs as part of education and disability awareness initiatives.
