Merricourt WQ BMP Case Study Narration The management on Merricourt is focused around conservative stocking using a combination of wet season spelling and rotational grazing. This allows for all of our land types to be managed as required, ensuring good land condition is maintained and improved across the property. This project has assisted in furthering our management of the pasture resource through increasing water distribution in several paddocks on the property. As a result, it is envisaged that our ongoing commitment to improved management will lead to significant recovery and improvement of land condition in some of the sensitive areas of the property associated with the creek frontages in these paddocks. Early results from the project have confirmed that the improvements have already assisted in the improvement of land condition and ground cover. Moreover this project has been very practical in its approach and mode of engagement with the local grazing industry. This has achieved measurable environmental and management outcomes. We would like to thank the Dalrymple Landcare Committee, the Australian Government’s Caring For Our Country Programme and NQ Dry Tropics NRM.
