SOUNDWAVES IS A MUSIC PROJECT DESIGNED TO CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

Each month there is a free community workshops and a free community cabaret event. Workshops and events are all held at THE THEBARTON COMMUNITY CENTRE, on the corner of South Road and Ashwin Parade, Torrensville, from February to November inclusive. The free monthly community events are always held on the third Thursday of each month between 10.45am and 1.45pm. These events feature an integrated line-up of disability and mainstream performances and offer a great opportunity to enjoy live music, have a dance and to find out more about the project.

‘SOUNDWAVES BEATS’ WORKSHOPS’

We all like to clap our hands, tap our feet or move to music – and now ‘SoundWaves Beats’ gives you the chance to do all of this and more in a FREE one hour workshop. Using hand drums, percussion instruments, our bodies, our chairs and voices – whatever feels good to use – ‘SoundWaves Beats’ is a music jam session all to do with rhythm and beats! This session is held on the fourth Thursday of each month from 10.45am – 12noon also at the Thebarton Community Centre, and is led by Adelaide Musician/Entertainer Linda McCarthy. No music experience is needed, just the desire to have fun with others exploring making music with rhythm and beats!

The venue is very spacious, providing plenty of room for people in wheelchairs. Thebarton Community Centre is fully accessible, air-conditioned and has plenty of car parking. For general enquiries about SoundWaves workshops and events please contact project director Tony Doyle on 82324554 or 0417798857

All workshops and events are FREE

You are welcome to bring your own lunch and refreshments.

The SoundWaves project is funded by the SA Department of Communities and Social Inclusion (DCSI) and is organised by ‘Tony Doyle Visions’ Venue provided by the City of West Torrens
