Look out for “world’s worst” pest
6 Jun 2011
Published To

Residents of Port Lincoln and visitors to the area are urged to look out for the common or Indian myna. There have been three reports of the bird in Port Lincoln and another at Tulka. This pest bird is not native to Australia and should not be confused with two native species, the noisy miner and the yellow-throated miner. This bird damages fruit and cereal crops, competes aggressively with Australian native birds and carries mites.  Report sightings to Gemma Lindschau on 0437 701 969 or Lana Roediger on 0428 846 741
