Growing up in the bush

For the first 4 years of my life I grew up in the bush near Camden NSW at a place called Cobbitty.  We were surrounded by trees of all sorts - native gum, wattle, casuarina and peppercorns and introduced plum and oak trees. My mum told me that she would put me in the pram out under the plum or oak tree when it was my sleep time.  She said that she would often find me just watching the leaves moving in the wind.  When I got older, we moved to the city of Sydney and I missed the quiet and beauty of the bush.  I would run away from school and walk for miles to find the local caves, rivers and bush that comforted me and gave me a sense of self and place in the world. I still prefer being in the bush!
