The Center for Rural Strategies, Center for Media Justice, and Free Press partnered to present the first Rural Broadband Hearing in Whitesburg, KY, October 12, 2011. The Hearing created a much-needed space for rural people to share their concenrs regarding access to high-speed Internet in rural communities, and their solutions for closing the digital divide. Attendants provided testimony to special guest, USDA Rural Utilities Administrator Jonathan Adelstein. Event was made possible with the support of Appalshop, Partnership of African American Churches, Thousand Kites, and the Central Appalachia Rural Network.
