Shaping the Future - Whyanbeel Creek
22 Feb 2012
Published To

Michael Schulz was only six when he told his class about bank stabilisation. Eight years later, his dad, Chris, with seven other landholders, Terrain NRM, and government funding, has helped stop the creek banks on the Whyanbeel Creek from ending up on the Great Barrier Reef. Around 2km of the creek has been stabilised and revegetated and a new meander created. The local kids now cool off, catch jungle perch and observe platypus in the clear, shaded waters.
