Description
DustWatch in the Mallee
Since arriving in the Mallee and working as the Regional Landcare Facilitator I have participated in many Mallee CMA programs delivered throughout the Victorian Mallee, including the weather stations in schools program that has enabled the delivery of portable weather stations to five Victorian Mallee Schools (Werrimull, Sea Lake, Red Cliffs, Birchip and Rainbow). These weather stations will assist in the delivery of science programs associated with climate variability. The schools participating in the program will also become volunteers for the community DustWatch research project, which aims to monitor the extent and severity of wind erosion across Australia. Data from across the nation is gathered by volunteer DustWatchers using monitoring equipment, meteorological records and satellite images.
