Volunteering for Radio Lollipop

A big part of my life in 2012, is my work with a volunteer organisation called Radio Lollipop. I spend a lot of time at the Mater and Logan Children's Hospitals creating exciting and fun activities for children and their families. The excitement and energy of the people I volunteer with is symbolic of what I love most about Brisbane. Brisbane is a place where the sun is always shining, and the people are always shining. I'm amazed at the generosity of our local community for their support, and over 80 volunteers who give their time every week. We have a childrens radio station at the hospital and children get to talk over the air and request their favourite songs. My job is coordinating over 80 volunteers, and making sure we give our very best to those who need it most. I also get host radio shows and my DJ name is MC TuTu! I love to dress up, put smiles on people's faces, and embrace my inner child :) I hope in the future that organisations like Radio Lollipop will continue to be a part of life here in Brisbane. It helps bring people together and builds a strong community not only for the people in hospital, but the volunteers who give their time.
