Supporting the Friends of South Mortlock
11 May 2012

This morning in Quellington, near York, WA, four local community members met with Wheatbelt staff NRM to discussed how they could initiate more activities to protect and enhance their local area.

After a walk along the South Mortlock River, where the group spotted protected birds, unique trapdoor spiders an signs of the Brush-tailed Possums, the group decided to organize a more formal meeting in coming months.

The idea of the next meeting will be to clarify how traditional owners, local landholders and Wheatbelt NRM can work together to get some on-ground activities underway to enhance cultural, natural and agricultural values in the South Mortlock.
