Hi my name is Samira SalimiNamin. I am 32 years old and I am currently the electrical design engineer of Roads & Traffic, City Project Office, Brisbane Infrastructure, Brisbane City Council.

I am originally from Iran & came to Brisbane in April 2011 with my husband-Maziar J.Modjdehi- as skilled migrants. He is a civil planner working in a private company. I started working in BCC in October 2011 through a career connection program provided by Queensland government. During these 9 months I was involved in Intelligent Transport Systems projects. It includes any transport system design within great Brisbane, like CCTV, RAPID Signs, Fibre jobs, Traffic signals on roads to name a few. I am sure by the time you are reading my story in 50 years time; technology has been dramatically developed with unbelievable changes. Hope all Council’s employees’ efforts lead to make Brisbane the best city in the world.

We live in Kangaroo Point, a close suburb to city. Brisbane River adds value to our area & I should say it is a wonderful suburb to live in. We have easy access to CityCat & ferry services. CityCycle bike hire is just a couple of meters from our building. Another feature of this suburb is Story Bridge connecting Kangaroo Point to Fortitude Valley. This bridge provides awesome view at nights. Finally, we discovered Australia via Brisbane on our arrival & are happy with it.

My favourite thing to do is travelling. I always think of the famous novel ’80 days round the world.’ Cannot imagine how travelling facilities would boost till 2059 but if you are reading my July 2012 note, just think of how I could see all countries in 2059 in the shortest & easiest way.
