Love the coast or do we?

We're a coastal nation and pride ourselves on our beach culture, yet when will we accept that there is such a thing as un-sustainable development of our coasts and tidal wetlands? Impacts vary from light and soundscapes - interrupting local wildlife including shorebirds and nesting marine turtles, 4WD's compacting sand and killing meiofauna, to the impacts of increasing sedimentation of our rivers and wetlands.

It's time to speak up for the coast and build resilience - not only of our coastal communities, but of our coastal and marine habitats if we want a beach culture for future generations.

This photo is of the spectacular Rainbow Beach and Double Island Point between high tides.
