No better place to work and retire - By David & Joy Johnson

It has been my pleasure to have lived in brisbane 62 years, having left my native town of Raymond Terrace aged 25 years. To put it plainly, the cold drove me up here after having such a wonderful holiday in Queensland. I married a Queensland girl from Bundaberg who worked as a nursing sister at that time at St Martins Hospital. I obtained employment as an engine driver and fireman at Cotton Marketing Factory Winstaines over a period of 24 years. Plainly, where we now live in retirement, we reckon is second to none, as the city Council dug a broad lake in Bantebury Park opposite with all the wildlife for which we are very thankful.
