September Highlights and Challenges
26 Sep 2012

The month of September has been a considerable busy month with planning new projects and show casing other activities.

The planning for future capacity building projects at this stage has been completed for the next six months.  While planning, several projects have been showcased in the communities across the Central Highlands.

The challenge for the Central Highlands region will be the preparedness strategy leading up to the summer season. This is based on a climate forecast for a dry summer season with potential storms and bushfires.

The second challenge for the community has been the social impact based on the economic changes driven by Queensland Government and the private resource sector. Local community agencies have experienced an increase of referrals from people who are now financially and emotionally struggling due to being directly affected by the 2010-2011 flooding and the current economic change.
