Al Hawkes began playing and recording music as a teenager in Westbrook, Maine during the 1940s. Here, Al tells the story of the pirate radio station he built in the barn on the family farm and one of his first bands -- an interracial country music duo called "Allerton and Alton, the Cumberland Ridge Runners."
