The first ‘Gympie Get Ready Resilience Leaders’ group have participated in the Regional Training Services ‘Apply First Aid’ training program.

Partnering with local provider Regional Training, members of the Resilient Leaders Network, are gaining a number of first aid skills including accident management, CPR, the use of a defibrillator and how to effectively approach a number of emergency situations.

The program is designed to provide additional skills and support to those areas of our region we know are vulnerable to being cut off during extreme weather. Our core group of Resilient Leaders have agreed to step up and meet the challenge. The training made available to a selected number of Resilient Leaders across the region, will ensure that even when we get cut off by flooding there will be people on the ground with the skills to provided support in emergency first aid situations.

Regional Training’s Director Rhonda Acworth commented,” This is another great example of locals getting the job done, the Gympie community really leads the state with these sorts of initiatives.

The first aid training program, funded by the Resilient Leaders Program (Flexible Funding) will be available over the next few months, making training available to a number of communities in the Gympie Region.
