February Highlights and Challenges
25 Feb 2013

Highlights include increased activity with the Local Health Action Group and the Tourism Development Association and a number of local community & sporting groups.  It seems everyone is starting to get into the habit of finding new ways of raising much needed funds for their groups.  An unscheduled meeting of a few community members, resulted in the purchase of a Fairy Floss Machine, Soft Serve Ice Cream Machine and a Slushie Machine - each of these machines can be operated by young people under supervision and will be prove to be both an attractive and novel way for our young people to become involved at a Grassroots level in the community.  To date the machines are booked until well after Easter, and at this stage it seems these will be used at least three days a month.

Challenges as always during the last part of summer is the intense heat and weather systems.  This makes any working bee an uncomfortable experience and encroaches on activities such as tree/shrub planting.  Time will always be a challenge for small communities.
