Description

April 20 has been set aside to host the Alpha Market Day and Emergency Services Demonstration.

this activity has been re-named to reflect the holistic approach to what is essentially a Volunteer Recruitment Drive.

The objective is to provide an entertaining and engagine day for the communities of both Alpha and Jericho.  A place for local groups to put on a Stall to raise funds and awareness of their group and the activities of their groups.  It will also feature demonstrations by the local Emergency Services - Fire Brigade will do a Jaws of Life demo, SES will do a Height Rescue and the Rural Fire Brigade have an interactive Diarama of the effects of topography and fire control.  RFDS will demonstrate and educate the Remote Medicine Chest, where people in remote locations have access to restricted medicines in the event of major trauma/accident.  Talks with landholders regarding air-strip maintenance will also be conducted, as well as face to face contact with some of the service delivery personel.

Of course the day wouldn't be complete without a bit of fun, so the Firies and the SES will shape up to the first inagurual 'Tug of War' and Water Fight.  This bit of fun will hopefully demonstrate that whilst these services are pretty serious, there is enormous camaderie (fun) to be enjoyed.

We have some very positive feedback to date, with early registrtions of stalls and interest from the local services.
